Around the Devils Blogosphere- 01.21.08
Since fellow New Jersey Devils bloggers focused their eyes and ears on the New York Giants 23-20 thrilling NFC Championship win over Green Bay following the Patriots win over San Diego, the posts were shorter than usual, as expected. However, Tom Gulitti (the blogger) and Steve Stirling provided us with in-depth viewpoints on the Devils 3-2 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday night.
Over at 2 Man Advantage, Stirling live-blogged the entire game. Some highlights from the live post included noting that Doc Emerick is not calling the game tonight. "This could be a big blow to the Devils who have counted on Doc to get excited over the goals they have almost been scoring all year." After Pavel Kubina scored the second goal of the game for the Leafs, he pricelessly asked, "Why do the Devils refuse to win a game by more than one goal?"
Tom Gulitti is “Mad for Madden” on Fire and Ice, his blog for the Bergen Record. He raised intriguing statistics following the Devils 3-2 win yesterday in front of 15,291, many of whom stayed to watch the NY Giants game on the big screen. After scoring two more against the Leafs, Madden has scored more goals against Toronto than any other team (13). Madden has also tallied both of the Devils game-winners versus Toronto this season. Interesting…
We must pray that Madden, who missed two games with a laceration to his right ankle, is healthy, wealthy and wise. Well, at least healthy. He is an important part of the Devils organization and has produced 14 goals, second most on the team.
Especially, considering the Devils upcoming schedule, which includes dangerous Philadelphia on the road (tomorrow night), Montreal at home (Thursday).
Pause, All-Star Break weekend. R & R.
G Martin Brodeur in Atlanta for festivities and his fourth career start and 10th appearance overall in the All-Star Game, with head coach Brent Sutter, who is assisting the Eastern Conference squad from the bench, for leading the Devils into second place midway through the season.
Hopefully, hopefully, Jay Pandolfo fully recovered from his ligament pelvic injury, which has plagued him since Nov. 28. Hang in there Pando. Stay strong, listen to doctors, your time will come.
Then important dates with Pittsburgh (with or without Crosby), who we own thus far, and the New York Rangers, who we hate and cannot defeat for some stupid reason this season, after the break, both games among 15 of 18 stretch at the Prudential Center.
Maybe, the Devils feel like the Football Giants. Prefer the road. Well, they need to win at home first. Make the playoffs, then we will start talking. In the meantime, they have business to handle.
And, if you feel so inclined, check out the shortest post ever to somehow find its way to "Around the Devils Blogosphere" by John Fischer's In Lou We Trust. If you are under a cave right now while reading Devils Daily, or fell asleep sometime during the Devils 3-2 win last night, Fischer keeps you going for today with his short yet sweet post.
Well, that's all for "Around the Devils Blogosphere." And as a Giants fan, there are no words to describe how excited I am that the Giants are going to Super bowl XLII. What an incredible run for the GMEN, Eli, Plax, Coughlin, and everyone else in the organization. Congratulations.
GO Giants!
GO Devils!
