Shots on Goal: Devils lead 9-6
New Jersey came out flying in the first period after a big win against Buffalo Tuesday night. The Devils are riding the momentum of a 2-1 shootout win into tonight's game against the Hurricanes.
New Jersey dominated play for the most part, outshooting Carolina nine to six.
Carolina took a pair of penalties which really opened it up for the Swamp Things.
Travis Zajac put the Devils in front on a rebound created off a great rush to score his third goal in his last four games. The captain Jamie Langenbrunner shot the puck to the goalie Cam Ward's far side, leaving a juicy rebound for the streaking Zajac who pounded it home.
Martin Brodeur got off to a strong start as well making a big save right before time expired to keep the Devils ahead 1-0.
