Devils Late-Night Statistics

I am incredibly bored and have nothing better to do at 4 a.m. on the east coast.  I am assuming that you are sleeping in a warm cozy bed.  I will join all of you shortly (in my bed).  In the meantime, enjoy some Devils’ statistics, which I find valuable and important to their success this season.

Everything was taken before the game against the Islanders except for the record at the conclusion.  I have the complete game story here.

19-0-1... when scoring at least three goals

3-11-1... when allowing at least three tallies

13-2...when scoring at least one power play goal:

5-0... when they have knocked home at least two PPG

22... power play goals for the Devils (tied for 27th)

13.8...power play percentage (28th)

8 Straight starts for Martin Brodeur... (11- season high)

35... Zach Parise' individual point total... tied for 30th place

0-3-1 and 0-2-2... Devils winless record against the Islanders and Rangers this season... there are still four more games against each opponent

90... goals scored for the Devils (tied with Rangers for 27th)

20:29... average ice time for Devils' rookie defenseman Andy Greene--> third most among rookies

7... times that the Devils have been blanked in 2007-08--> ties the franchise record that the team set in both the 1983-84 and 2001-02 seasons

Bottom Line...

TEAM W L OTL PTS
New Jersey 21 14 3 45
Pittsburgh 20 16 2 42
NY Rangers 19 15 4 42
NY Islanders 19 16 2 40
Philadelphia 18 14 4 40

Somehow, someway, who the hell knows, at 4:37a.m. the Devils remain in first place of the Atlantic Division and second place in the Eastern Conference.  Maybe because only one team has won seven out of its last ten in the east (Ottawa).

And the Devils went 8-4-1 in December after dominating November at 9-4-1.

Credit their 11-9-3 road record, third best in the east, and their stifling
defense.  They have allowed  91 goals, fourth best in the entire league and tied for first in the Eastern Conference with the Rangers.
