Devils-Panthers Broadcast Info and Line Changes

The Devils host Florida tonight at the Prudential Center.  If you are not attending this contest (shame on you), catch it on FSNY, WFAN 660AM, or NHL radio. By the way, tickets are still available, but the names of back of the Devils' jerseys may seem unfamiliar at first.

They called up two forwards from Lowell, Noah Clarke and Barry Talackson, and placed Jay Pandolfo and Karel Rachunek on IR.  I was very shocked and appalled that center Petr Vrana was not activated.  If anything, call up Vrana-Clarke-Tallackson and use them as the fourth line.  They were successful in the AHL together and cannot be worse than Rupp, Pelley, or Clarkson offensively.

The Devils' best center is veteran faceoff man John Madden, who now lines with Zach Parise and Brian Gionta, while Patrik Elias recuperates from his strained groin.

In the meanwhile, Dainius Zubrus, center Travis Zajac, and captain Jamie Langenbrunner will form the second offensive unit.  Maybe, they can produce some goals.  Please!  At least, they worked on the power play in practice.

Help out goaltender Martin Brodeur, who is starting his ninth straight game for the Devils.  One of the best reasons I heard Kevin Weekes would not start against Florida is the Devils' lack of production.  Brodeur is more effective in a low-scoring affair than Weekes, who actually had some success earlier this season in Florida.

Clarke, Sergei Brylin, and David Clarkson formed the third group.  I am not sure how separating Clarke and Tallackson is a wise decision by coach Brent Sutter.  These two forwards know each other's strengths and weaknesses from playing with one another in the minor league system.

Mike Rupp, Rod Pelley, and Tallackson formed the fourth line at practice yesterday morning.

To recap:
Devils 39th game of season, on FSNY tonight at 7:00PM (no preview).

Forwards (offensemen, if they can score for a change, maybe they read our 2008 resolutions):

Parise-Madden-Gionta (they accounted for both Devils goals in the 5-2 loss to Isles last Saturday night)
Zubrus-Zajac-Langenbrunner (sophomore slump for Zajac, Zubrus overpaid?, let's earn a paycheck tonight)
Clarke-Brylin-Clarkson
Rupp-Pelley-Tallackson

Defensively, the Devils cannot handle any more significant injuries. Stay healthy, gosh darn it!

Defensive Pairings in Practice (TG)
White-Mottau
Oduya-Martin
Vishnevski-Brookbank; (Greene) --> depends if Sutter uses an extra forward or a seventh defenseman…. TBD
