Devils Playoff Chances: Win 50 Percent and They're In
Posted February 3rd, 2008 by Jeremy Kenter
The Devils need to win 50 percent of their games in order to
make the playoffs, James
Mirtle noted in a recent post. Mirtle measured the Eastern Conference on a
90-point barometer. Teams which finish above the 90 are in and vice versa.
Florida, Toronto and Tampa Bay are in deep shit. All three organizations would
have to win at least 19 of the final 30 to earn a spot. Mirtle is projecting a
95-point scale for the Western Conference teams. Entering Saturday, Detroit
would have to finish 6-22-1 to earn the final seed. The Devils have to go
15-15-1 to clinch the eighth seed.
After last night's 6-3 win over the last-place Kings, the Devils are on the right track. The LA Times staff writer Lisa Dillman (who was not in attendance) unjustly associated the team with East Rutherford. Last time I checked, the Devils moved to downtown Newark in Oct. '07.
