Cable TV Problems...

Instead of broadcasting the New Jersey Devils game last night on FSNY, MSG, or FSNY 2, the telecast could have been found on another network.  The reason for this was simple: the NY Rangers, Knicks, Islanders, NJ Nets and Devils were all playing between seven and seven-thirty last night, forcing Cablevision, Comcast, and whatever cable you have into tough decision-making.

For future games that have conflicting schedules, I will do my best to inform everyone before the game, which channel is televising the Devils game.

I hope everyone managed to find the channel, even with the annoyance.  I also think that the schedule-makers should not have all five New York metropolitan area teams playing at the same time on the same date.

Now that the Devils and Nets are finally playing in two separate arenas, the teams decided to schedule home games on the same days 13 times this season .

I was very disappointed by the ineptitude of both organizations, which have had struggling attendance figures in the Izod Center (formerly Continental Airlines Arena) for years.  In terms of watching a game, most of us don't have the luxury of watching five simultaneously, if we even get to see one game per night.

Attendance problems might have begun on Halloween night for the Devils in their new Prudential Center. Regardless, I will update you whenever necessary on their television whereabouts.  Some of us still care about watching them on television.

For now, here is the list of Devils games not broadcast on FSNY or MSG the rest of the season courtesy of NYoverflow:

21-Dec    at Edmonton        9:00   8:30

29-Dec    at NY Islanders     7:00   6:30

20-Feb     San Jose              7:00

27-Mar     at NY Rangers     7:00    6:30

1-Apr        at NY Islanders   7:00    6:30

4-Apr        at Philadelphia    7:00    6:30

Don't worry -- the next Devils game on FSNY 2 is not until Dec. 21st, two weeks from now.

Other than the Devils' home contest against San Jose, each game begins with a 30-minute pregame show.

Unfortunately, some games' intermission reports are done in the MSG studios by Al Trautwig and Stan "The Maven" Fischler, and are focused primarily on the Rangers.  The only thing I can recommend is emailing Lou Lamoriello and Jeff Vanderbeek, requesting them to focus on the Devils in between periods.
