The AP reported that Devils coach Brent Sutter has given Jamie Langenbrunner a vote of confidence two weeks after he was named the eighth captain in team history... Langs was injured earlier this season, which prevented him from receiving the "C" on his jersey when the season opened...Earlier this year, I asked the question, "Who deserves the title, who can follow the lead of Scott Stevens, Scott Neidermayer, and Patrik Elias who all previously held the reigns?"  Although Langs may never enter the Hall of Fame, or win a scoring title, he is the ideal candidate, a two-time Stanley Cup champion and a veteran who has been playing professionally since 1995...that and goaltender Martin Brodeur is not allowed to be the team captain

Rule 14 D: Captain of Team:
"No playing Coach or playing Manager or goalkeeper shall be permitted to act as Captain or Alternate Captain."
