Quick update...The New Jersey Devils defeated the Boston Bruins 3-1 behind some timely scoring and an impressive defensive effort in the final period.  After a scoreless first, Brian Gionta's 10th from Johnny Oduya opened the scoring 1-0 at 10:57 of the second period.  Jamie Langenbrunner added the first of two goals less than four minutes later, on the power play.   Zach Parise and Mike Mottau assisted on Langenbrunner's third of the year... Bruins forward Marc continued his impressive season of 7G 29A with his eighth of the season, taking advantage of Gionta's tripping penalty at the 1:31 mark of the third period.  However, the Devils clamped down on defense and only allowed four other shots in the final 20 minutes of play.  Langs completed the scoring, his fourth with 15 seconds left in the contest...  Goaltender Martin Brodeur (15-10-2) made 19 saves in the win, while replacement goaltender Alex Auld backstopped 25 of 27 shots in the loss...Devils must be happy returning to Newark with the win to settle the road trip at 1-1-1... Two defensemen were credited with assists for the Devils... another huge improvement especially on the man advantage, where both teams went 1-for-3...
