Devils Hockey Only for the Wealthy?
The New Jersey Devils are a successful and friendly organization... to the wealthy people that is... just read their new (legitimate) policy... it's actually fairly well-written, creative, and truthful.... unfortunately to the rest of us poor people...
Dear Club Seat Holder:
"In order to protect your investment and the integrity of the Fire and Ice Lounges, we will be implementing a new policy effective 12/15. Upon entering the Fire or Ice Lounge, you will now have your hand stamped and ticket punched. This policy is meant to ensure that ONLY Club seat holders with valid day of game tickets are admitted into the lounges. Please keep in mind, if you choose to leave the lounge you will need to show your punched ticket and stamped hand in order to re-enter.
If you have any questions regarding this policy implementation, please contact a Customer Service Representative at 1-800-NJ-DEVIL."
I am concerned that the average fan is not getting any treatment for attending games and spending hundreds of dollars, potentially thousands over the course of an 82-game season. On the other hand, if you are paying for $25 dollar seats... don't complain about not getting the lounges that were created for the wealthy seat-holders..
"I would expect the Devils management to control entrance to these lounges like this "new" policy is going to do. They pay the big $$$'s for this luxury and they are entitled to enjoy it without the riff-raff (like me) sneaking into their lounges.' (NJ.com Devils Forum screen name olddevfan commented)... thanks to the forum, I was able to locate this interesting piece of information... then again, the Devils should be strict on who enters the club...
Why should people pay 200 dollars for entry to a club at a hockey game no less? That is one question which is beyond my understanding... I understood the idea behind the fire and ice lounges... but people are paying hundreds of dollars (they can obviously afford it) to sit in a bar and watch the game (if they care)... maybe, the Devils should continue to promote tickets for the average fan, which, in my opinion makes or breaks an arena... they are the people who yell and scream during live games, get those Rangers Suck jumpstarted... who cares about them? Lou... wake up... we enjoy hockey too
