Coaches
- Langenbrunner's Contributions Will Surely Be Missed- Jamie is going for surgery today for the sports hernia injury that has been bothering him since February. He actually played through the pain until the season end. I am not sure why he did not go for surgery immediately after the season concluded. That would have been the ideal solution for his groin dilemma. Now, the Devils are in middle of training camp without one of their key players. Last season, he scored 60 points, good for third on the team.
- Devils Stellar Play of Late Earns Coach a Spot in All-Star Game-
ESPN reported that Mike Babcock of the Detroit Red Wings, Ron Wilson of the San Jose Sharks, John Paddock of the Ottawa Senators and Brent Sutter of the New Jersey Devils will comprise the 2008 All-Star game coaching staff.
- Long Live the Coach- You do not hear the expression "Long live the coach" in sports anymore. Instead, you hear pack your bags, take a hike, you're fired a lot more often. Why is that? Why does it seem like coaches today are given the boot at a higher and faster rate than in year's past? Truthfully, I believe it has to do with the media. It has such an important impact on our liv
- Friday Night's Edition of Jeremy's Hockey Itch-
It's Friday night
a quarter after 11 on the east coastabout one o'clock on the east coast. You're probably thinking that I should be out partying, having a good time instead of watching the tube. Well, I agree, but everyone just finished finals for the fall semester and there will be plenty of disco tech in the next month. In meanwhile, we w - New Jersey Lands in Vancouver... Pelley's Back Home- The New Jersey Devils look to build on their last win over the Philadelphia Flyers when they take on Vancouver at 10 p.m. on FSN NY and on the radio at WFAN 660 AM.
- Devils Travel to Boston... Take on Bruins No. 2 Goaltender... Finish Road Trip- The New Jersey Devils travel to Boston tonight to face the Bruins and backup goaltender Alex Auld for the first time this season. Auld, 0-2 lifetime against the Devils, replaced Tim Thomas (strained groin) and Manny Fernandez (possibly out for the season) as the starting goaltender for the time being... Let's just say that he's off to a good start, 3-0 for the
- Are NJ Devils Too Healthy?-
After reading forums and other news on the New Jersey Devils organization, I wonder if the team is too healthy (other than Jay Pandolfo's recent injury bug). Lately, head coach Brent Sutter has had to waste time before games deciding on the 20 bench players allotted.
- A Lot on the Line Tonight Continued...- Devils defenseman Karel Rachunek returned to practice for the first time since being injured in the home opener against Ottawa on Oct.
- Devils Daily: Larry Robinson Got What He Earned-
You're searching through resumes, trying to find the best candidate for the position. Finally, you get your hands on a person with six Stanley Cups, two Norris Trophies handed to the league's best defenseman, and a Conn Smythe awarded to the league's most dominant playoff leader... I think you found Larry Robinson's profile if I'm not mistaken...
- No. 500 Must Wait for Brodeur: Devils Lose to Islanders-
With the game on the line, tied in the third period, someone from the New Jersey Devils bench (rookie coach Brent Sutter refrained from revealing the culprit) uttered some abusive language towards one of the referees. As a result, a bench minor infraction was called on the Devils bench, coupled by a penalty to Devils defenseman Shelden Brookbank, leaving them down t
- Training Camp Cuts- I hate training camp roster cuts, but they are part of the process. They determine who is good enough to make the team come Oct. 4th, NHL opening night for the New Jersey Devils. Unfortunately, there are players, who worked hard throughout the summer, who will be left off the roster. Yes, I do feel bad for them.
