Quick In-game Update... Price Starts in Goal for Habs, Devils Lead After One

Jeremy Kenter's picture

I am not sure why Cristobal Huet is not in net tonight.  Nevertheless, 20-year-old Canadian native Casey Price is starting 10th career game.  He is 6-2-1 thus far in his rookie season with a 2.71 GAA and .916SV%, both decent numbers for this youthful goaltender.

Devils-Canadiens Preview minus Pandolfo

Jeremy Kenter's picture

Five wins and counting.  The New Jersey Devils look to keep their winning streak alive tonight against a team they've defeated the past eight matchups.  The Devils face off with the Montreal Canadiens at the Prudential Center tonight after a come-from-behind win over Dallas on Wedne

Pandolfo's Iron Man Streak To End, Bettman On Air, NHL Changes Schedule, and Steve Williamson Completes 30-Day 30-Team Tour

Jeremy Kenter's picture

When the New Jersey Devils take the ice on Friday night against the Atlanta Thrashers, they will be missing a very familiar face.  A defensive-minded forward who has played 307 consecutive regular season games was knocked out in the third period against the Dallas Stars on Wednesday night.  He is Jay Pandolfo.

Devils Extend Longest Winning Streak of Season To Five -- Upend Dallas

Jeremy Kenter's picture

After the first period ended, the Devils down 2-0, I was confused.  The Devils were coming off an incredible four-game road-trip sweep and were losing for the first time in five games.  Other people, media perhaps were concerned coming in that they had not played in the Prudential Center much this season and were only 3-4-0 in the downtown arena.

NHL News Room (11/28/07)

Jeremy Kenter's picture

Breaking News: New York Rangers controversial forward Sean Avery will have arthroscopic surgery on his left wrist and miss approximately weeks, depending on  his rehabilitation.  This is a big blow to the Rangers, who rely Avery for his physical play and nine points in 14 games played this season.  He is set to miss the Devils/Rangers next game on Nov.

NHL Eastern Conference All-Stars Updated

Jeremy Kenter's picture

Yesterday, Martin Brodeur was riding second place among Eastern Conference goaltenders.  He is now in third behind Henrik Lundqvist and Cristobal Huet, the new top vote-getter, representing the Montreal Canadiens.  Habs fans were apparently annoyed this time around and got out to vote.  Just check out the lead Habs defenseman Andre Marko

Devils Status Report: Healthy (well... almost)

Jeremy Kenter's picture

NHL All-Star Voting Update

Jeremy Kenter's picture

The latest results from fan voting for the 2008 NHL All-Star Game to be held Jan. 27 in Atlanta... Martin Brodeur currently stands in second place behind New York Rangers goaltender Henrik Lendqvist who is among league leaders in GAA (1.81) and save percentage (.931) and second in shutouts (4) behind Pascal LecLaire, who should be starting for the Western Conference.

Devils Daily: Brodeur and the Devils Return Home With All Smiles

Jeremy Kenter's picture

I really don't know any other way of describing the New Jersey Devils 4-0 road trip than dominant.  I think the team is unconscious right now.  Bill thinks they are catching fireAfter the first two wins of the trip, I had this feeling that they were overcoming some early season jitters.&nb

Devils Are Catching Fire...

Bill Katinsky's picture

Martin Brodeur and the rest of the NJ Devils are starting to play like the team we all know and hoped they were this season.  Last night the Devils beat the always dangerous Tampa Bay Lightning 3-2 in Tampa.  Despite outplaying the Lightning for most of the first period, it was Vinny Lecavalier who opened up the scoring less than a minute into the second period.   This

Devils Upend Thrashers, Can They Make it Four Straight?

Jeremy Kenter's picture

The New Jersey Devils have broken out of their slump and the Tampa Bay Lightning are in the midst of their three-game losing streak.  Goaltender Martin Brodeur is heating up and just recorded his first shutout of the season, 3-0, last night over the Thrashers, a milestone no less.  He is 1-1 against the Lightning this year, losing the season opener 3-1 before a 6-1 convincing victory in the Prudential Center.  Jamie Langenbrunner has made a serious contribution since returning to the lineup on Nov.

Q and A with Atlanta Thrashers Blogger Ben Wright (11/23/07)

Jeremy Kenter's picture

The New Jersey Devils and Atlanta Thrashers do battle tonight in Hotlanta for the second time this season.  Martin Brodeur is most likely starting in goal and is 14-6-4 with three ties and a 2.19 goals-against average in 27 starts against Atlanta, but 2-4-4 with a 3.34 GAA in the last 10 meetings.

Devils Daily: Larry Robinson Got What He Earned

Jeremy Kenter's picture

You're searching through resumes, trying to find the best candidate for the position.  Finally, you get your hands on a person with six Stanley Cups, two Norris Trophies handed to the league's best defenseman, and a Conn Smythe awarded to the league's most dominant playoff leader... I think you found Larry Robinson's profile if I'm not mistaken...

Devils Daily: Rachunek, Parise -- Successful Hockey Players

Jeremy Kenter's picture

New Jersey Devils defenseman Karel Rachunek is arguably one of the best at his position.  I'm not kidding.  In a recent study by Behind the Net on blueliners who improve even strength scoring the most…Rachunek was rated No.

Devils Give Extra-Special Effort in Win over Penguins

Jeremy Kenter's picture

Two for six on the man advantage and zero for four on penalty kill. Words that may not been associated with the Devils during their earlier stretch of the current season.  This is the new Devils apparently, who won their second straight last night over the Penguins 2-1.

You Wanna See This- Gionta's Funky Goal and Brodeur's Robbing of Daniel Briere

Jeremy Kenter's picture

You wanna see Marty's save on Daniel Briere... let's just say Briere got pickpocketed...  Brodeur was definitely thankful to Brian Gionta for a  funky-looking, yet nifty backhander over Nittymaki's left shoulder.

Devils Face Penguins, Finish Atlantic Division Stretch

Jeremy Kenter's picture

NJ Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur made history on Saturday night with his 500th career win joining an elite club with Patrick Roy (551).  Brodeur will be back in net tonight against the Pens as the Devils welcome defenseman Colin White to the lineup for the first time this season.  White was injured during tr

Rick DiPietro earns his 100th NHL victory.

Bill Katinsky's picture

Normally I am not a big NY Islanders fan, but today is different, for two reasons.   One is that the Islanders beat the division leading NY Rangers, which keeps my Devils only 7 points back. The second and more important reason though is that Rick DiPietro earned his 100th NHL win.

Atlantic Division, Toughest in the NHL?

Bill Katinsky's picture

Last season, four of the five Atlantic Division teams made the playoffs, the most from any division throughout the league, and this season looks to be no different.  We all know the moves that each team made in the off season.  What we did not know was the amount of impact they would have on the teams and ultimately the

What I Learned This Past Weekend in Sports

Jeremy Kenter's picture

New Jersey Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur accomplished a feat like none other on Saturday night against the Philadelphia Flyers... unfortunately, the mass media cared more about Alex Rodriguez's baseball contract... lets' get this straight- the Wall Street Journal contained not one but at least two articles on A-Rod's current situation...

New Jersey Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur earned milestone win No. 500 over the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday night... congratulations to Marty and his family... you could even see a smile across his face (under that mask) after the final horn sounded...

Devils Cannot Score Against Islanders, Lose Again, What's Next!

Jeremy Kenter's picture

Sorry for not updating the site until this late... it's been quite a busy day for me and Barry Bonds... for starters, the New Jersey Devils are having more “power” problems...this time it's with their South Mountain Arena, which was used for practices until the completion of the new practice facility adjacent to the Prudential Center

Devils Point Leaders - Season To Date

Ian's picture

It's good to take a look at the numbers from time to time.  Zach Parise is leading the Devils in assists and points this season.  Penguins Evgeni Malkin has 19 assists,  four more points than Parise.  Vincent Lecavalier on Tampa Bay leads the league in points with 29.  He's on fire - another multi-point game tonight.

Barry Bonds Indicted, A-Rod Still a Yank, College Prank Gone Bad, College Football- Replace No. 2 with 13

Who broke this story? Well, that's not really important... Former San Francisco Giants outfielder Barry Bonds was indicted Thursday for perjury and obstruction of justice. He faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted on all charges.

Langenbrunner Has Successful Return, Devils Lose to Rangers

Jeremy Kenter's picture

FINAL THOUGHTS: Unspecial, effortless, speechless performance by the Devils who are now playing three games in a four day stretch.  Brian Gionta had a huge opportunity to trim the lead on a breakaway at 5:51 of the third.  What do you know- Henrk Lundqvist (9-7-1) denied his ass...

NHL Tuesday Update- Bettman is Howard Stern, Hall of Shame, Pray for Eric Cole, Sid the Kid

Jeremy Kenter's picture

I am frustrated that the hockey Hall of Fame night was not broadcasted on television in the United States, unless you subscribed to the NHL Network.  I really don't want to rant about this pathetic oversight by Gary Bettman and the Board of Governors.  It's downright shameful and embarrassing.  I will say this for the last time- He has to go

Hey Patty, I don't know if you've been keeping up with these posts but it certainly seems like it.  Just hours after my positive criticism, you were able to score the game-winning goal with only five minutes thirty seconds remaining in regulation.  This goal, along with your helper on Zach Parise's power-play goal, will hopefully get you back on track.

No. 500 Must Wait for Brodeur: Devils Lose to Islanders

Jeremy Kenter's picture

With the game on the line, tied in the third period, someone from the New Jersey Devils bench (rookie coach Brent Sutter refrained from revealing the culprit) uttered some abusive language towards one of the referees.  As a result, a bench minor infraction was called on the Devils bench, coupled by a penalty to Devils defenseman Shelden Brookbank, leaving them down t

Game #16: Devils Travel to Long Island, Brodeur Goes for 500

Jeremy Kenter's picture

As the Devils (6-7-2) bus to Long Island for another Atlantic Division matchup with the Islanders (8-4) , whom I gave no hope for the season (boy was I wrong so far), I wonder if the Devils can repeat success.  Can they continue to overcome special teams woes, something that plagued the Jersey

Eric Lindros Announces His Retirement from the NHL

Jeremy Kenter's picture

As a New Jersey Devils hockey fan and now blogger (what's this world coming to!), I'll admit- it's sad to see Eric Lindros retire.  What's more tragic were his (minimum of) eight concussions suffered during his illustrious, yet injury-plagued 13-year pro-career.

The New Jersey Devils were flattened by the Pittsburgh Penguins tonight 5-0.  The season, which had been on the rise, was just deflated by Sidney Crosby and his teammates.

Say Goodbye to Richard Matvichuk

Jeremy Kenter's picture

The New Jersey Devils officially said adios to thirty-four-year-old defenseman Richard Matvichuk.  Well, they placed him on waivers and there is a very small window that he will return to the team sometime in the near future.  I am still bewildered by GM Lou

Devils Light up Tampa Bay for Six Goals

Although the Prudential Center was not soldout (not even close at 13,218) for game two of its inaugural season, the Devils 6-1 victory secured their first win in their new state-of-the-art facility.  The first contest was a bit embarrassing but I recapped it nevertheless.
