Atlantic Division: New Year's Eve Update
Posted December 31st, 2007 by Jeremy KenterIn early November, the New Jersey Devils faced their Atlantic Division opponents in nine consecutive games. They went 4-1 against Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, but 0-3-1 against the New York Rangers and Islanders.
Devils Power Up in Practice
Posted December 31st, 2007 by Jeremy KenterThe New Jersey Devils completed the post-Christmas weekend at 1-1 yet remain in first place in the Atlantic Division. Unlike earlier this season, where head coach Brent Sutter may have given his team a day off after playing two games in 48 hours, tis was not the case in this morning's practice.
Q and A -- Final Edition of 2007 Calendar Year (12-30-07)
Posted December 30th, 2007 by Jeremy KenterKevin Pritchard of wnymedia was kind enough to share his thoughts on the Buffalo Sabres with Devils Daily and the rest of the globe. Before this weekend, the Sabres were situated in eighth place in the Eastern Conference, despite losing two important pieces during the offseason.&
Devils Late-Night Statistics
Posted December 30th, 2007 by Jeremy KenterI am incredibly bored and have nothing better to do at 4 a.m. on the east coast. I am assuming that you are sleeping in a warm cozy bed. I will join all of you shortly (in my bed). In the meantime, enjoy some Devils’ statistics, which I find valuable and important to their success this season.
Islanders Score Three in Final Period, Hold Down Fort against the Devils
Posted December 30th, 2007 by Jeremy KenterJust when it looked like New Jersey was back in this game, the Islanders responded with two goals in an important 3:19 span of the third period. New York added an empty netter in the final minute to defeat the Devils, 5-2, their fourth consecutive win over their division rivals this season.
Elias, DiPietro Out Tonight
Posted December 30th, 2007 by Jeremy KenterUnfortunately, Patrik Elias tweaked his groin in last night's 2-1 victory over Buffalo and would not play in the Devils' contest in Long Island. Martin Brodeur started again in the back-to-back matchup. However, reserve Wade Dubielewicz started in place of Rick
Devils Defeat Sabres, Travel to Long Island Tonight
Posted December 30th, 2007 by Jeremy KenterThe New Jersey Devils (21-13-3) continued to win last night with a low-scoring, defensive-minded effort. After tying the game at one apiece in regulation, Zach Parise scored the only goal in the shootout frame.
Goaltender Martin Brodeur outdueled Buffalo Sabres netminder Ryan Miller and did not allow any of the three Sabres' shooters to score in the shootout.
Parise fought off the flu to beat Miller for the only shootout tally and the Devils' 2-1 victory over the Sabres (19-15-2).
Devils Lineup, Injury Situation for Weekend
Posted December 28th, 2007 by Jeremy KenterInjuries in sports suck, especially after playing 307 consecutive games dating back to 2003. Just ask New Jersey Devils forward Jay Pandolfo who has missed the last 12 games with his pelvic ligament injury. He will not play tonight. I have a complete preview here and

The last-place Islanders are separated from the Devils by five
Love Thy Neighbor
Posted December 27th, 2007 by Jeremy KenterIn professional sports, there are certain successful organizations like the Yankees, Patriots, and New Jersey Devils. Unlike the Pats and Devs, every non-Yankee fan hates, despises, and loathes the Bronx Bombers. I did not mean to such harsh terminology, but that is how people feel towards the Spankees.&nbs
Happy Holidays as Devils Rest Up...

Long Live the Coach
Posted December 26th, 2007 by Jeremy KenterYou do not hear the expression "Long live the coach" in sports anymore. Instead, you hear pack your bags, take a hike, you're fired a lot more often. Why is that? Why does it seem like coaches today are given the boot at a higher and faster rate than in year's past? Truthfully, I believe it has to do with the media. It has such an important impact on our liv

I have been hearing a lot of talk about Martin Brodeur, Patrik Elias, and Johnny Oduya in the limited hockey airwaves. I need to clear up the air so everyone can inhale, exhale,
Dress Warmly, It's Cold Outside

NHL - Coming To A City Near You
Posted December 24th, 2007 by Jeremy KenterIf, for some crazy reason, you packed your bags and moved your family to Las Vegas and you like hockey (who doesn't), then prepare for a professional ice hockey team. Well, not quite. But, the NHL is contemplating adding another team to the league and Nevada is a No. 1 destination.
Parise Out, Devils Game on FSNY

Puffy Coats and Exaggerated Dollars
Posted December 22nd, 2007 by Jeremy KenterThe NHL has a creative salary cap system that has forced general managers to sign players to fatter and more extensive contracts. Jay Pandolfo So Close Yet So Far...
Posted December 14th, 2007 by Jeremy KenterJay Pandolfo is one of the best Devils defensive-forwards when he is healthy... I would have mentioned the opposite, but I am not accustomed to Pando getting injured until this season...in fact, he had played 307 consecutive games before suffering some sort of lower body/groin/abdomen area injury (Who the hell knows) while falling down and slamming into the boards in a Nov. 28th incident...
Wanna Fill a Void? Hire a Sutter...
Posted December 14th, 2007 by Jeremy KenterThat's right... I said it... Radical Change to Improve Scoring
Posted December 11th, 2007 by Jeremy KenterScoring in the league has been decreasing, well since the 1918-1927 decade. If, you are wondering, that is a significant period of time. I am not sure why league officials are still satisfied with the current scoring results. Maybe, they didn't have time to read Jeff Z.

Power rankings, Devils Ahead of Pack...
Posted December 11th, 2007 by Jeremy KenterThe USA Today's most recent power rankings listed the New Jersey Devils as the second best team behind the unanimous first-place Detroit Red Wings. You can attribute the team's success to a recent nine-game winning streak that was halted on Sunday. Others placed the Devils a little bit lower after the quick losses.

Are NJ Devils Too Healthy?
Posted December 10th, 2007 by Jeremy KenterAfter reading forums and other news on the New Jersey Devils organization, I wonder if the team is too healthy (other than Jay Pandolfo's recent injury bug). Lately, head coach Brent Sutter has had to waste time before games deciding on the 20 bench players allotted.
Devils Lose in Overtime, End Unbeaten Streak at Nine Games
Posted December 10th, 2007 by Jeremy KenterThe stakes were simple: The New Jersey Devils were trying to extend their unbeaten streak to a season-high 10 games and the NY Rangers were looking to end a three-game losing slump.
In the end, Brendon Shanahan's one-timer beat Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur 30 seconds into overtime, and reversed both trends for the time being.

Devils Rest After Ninth Consecutive Win... Rangers Next
Posted December 8th, 2007 by Jeremy KenterAfter winning their ninth in a row, fifth straight at the newly-designed Prudential Center, head coach Brent Sutter gave the New Jersey Devils players a break on Saturday. The Devils are in the midst of a three-game four-day tour and looked sluggish towards the end of Friday night's contest against the Washington Capitals.
Cable TV Problems...
Posted December 8th, 2007 by Jeremy KenterInstead of broadcasting the New Jersey Devils game last night on FSNY, MSG, or FSNY 2, the telecast could have been found on another network. The reason for this was simple: the NY Rangers, Knicks, Islanders, NJ Nets and Devils were all playing between seven and seven-thirty last night, forcing Cablevision, Comcast, and whatever cable you have into tough decision-making.

Simplicity and Success over Wealth and Misery
Posted December 7th, 2007 by Jeremy KenterYes, Jamie Langenbrunner was officially named team captain before Wednesday's game against Boston. In New Jersey Devils fashion, there was no press conference or major announcement made, nothing fancy.

The game had all of the makings of ending the Devils' seven-game unbeaten streak. They were down 3-0 after the first, the game looked out of reach, and the 14,012 in attendance were silenced.
Detroit Versus The East... All Star Game Update

Prudential Center's Soft Ice
