Posted February 27th, 2008 by Jeremy KenterTrading came and went and the Devils took the alternate route, making a small trade for a stay-at-home defenseman Bryce Salvador. They could have used an offensive weapon or two last night, falling to the Hurricanes 2-1 in overtime. Brian Gionta scored the Devils lone goal, deflecting it off Carolina's defenseman. However, with time expiring on the Hurricanes' man advantage, Sergei Samsonov tallied his first of two goals. Many people blamed Andy Greene for allowing Samsonov's game

Posted February 26th, 2008 by Jeremy KenterThe Devils have traded enforcer Cam Janssen to the Blues for defenseman Bryce Salvador. Janssen was recently activated off the injury reserve after suffering a separated shoulder in the offseason. He had yet to see action this season. Jackman has 11 points and +12 in 56 games with St. Louis thus far. The move should help the Devils on the blue line where they were thin and in need of a veteran presence after losing Rafalski, Daneyko and both Scotts over the last few years.
Breaking News: Peter Forsberg Signs with Avs, Flyers Trade for Prospal, Boyle Signs Extension
Posted February 26th, 2008 by Jeremy KenterWow, I just finished my previous post while watching VERSUS' tremendous NHL coverage and news is flying at me like a scene from Harry Potter. I learned that Peter Forsberg signed with the Colorado Avalanche earlier today, Dan Boyle just signed a 6 year-deal with the Lightning and, as Versus just broke the story, the Flyers traded defenseman Alexander Picard and a 2009 conditional draft pick for Vincent "Vinny "Prospal.

John Madden gave New

Jose 3-2 and sending the Sharks to their fifth straight loss. After a scoreless
first period, the Sharks took the 1-0 lead, taking advantage of a Vitaly
Vishnevksi penalty 35 seconds into the middle frame. However, the Devils
scored the next three goals, all in the second, including Madden and Brylin’s
1:10 apart, before a late Kyle McLaren tally in the third, finishing the count.

Posted February 12th, 2008 by Jeremy KenterTeams have completed nearly two-thirds of the 2007-08 NHL regular season. With an important trade deadline approaching, Ottawa and Carolina made a significant trade that favored the Senators. I am confident that we did not see the last of the transactions before Feb. 26 (3pm EST). There are many daily reports from various news agencies about predicted trades, who is mostly likely to dealt, etc. Meanwhile, the playoffs are also forthcoming in less than 60 days. Here is my outlook for the five teams comprising Atlantic Division.

Devils Trade Rumors, Updates
Posted February 8th, 2008 by Jeremy KenterDevils Welcome Home Old Friend
Posted February 8th, 2008 by Jeremy KenterThe Devils host Anaheim Ducks and old friend Scott Niedermayer tonight at the Prudential Center. The these two teams met last in the 2003 Stanley Cup Finals, a memorable experience for Nieds, who won his third Cup in a New Jersey sweater. He returned the following season, captaining the Devils to another playoff run. After they lost in the first round, Nieds, a free agent at the time, decided to sign with the Ducks, rather than remain here. Scott’s younger brother Rob also played for Anaheim, factoring in his decision.

Devils Travel to Sabre-ville, One More Shootout?
Posted February 6th, 2008 by Jeremy KenterI enjoyed the VERSUS telecast of the Devils game on Monday night. Nevertheless, I am glad that FSNY will return to its normal duty for Wednesday night's Devils-Sabres game at 7 o'clock. The Devils are playing their fourth and final meeting with Buffalo this season. Since the first three ended with Devils' shootout wins, Buffalo may want to seal a win in regulation.
Not so fast.

Gionta's Struggles Disturb Fans
Posted February 6th, 2008 by Jeremy KenterI agree with the recent negativity surrounding Brian Gionta. He has certainly not produced to par. Since Jan. 1, Gionta has scored twice (none since Jan. 10). Since the beginning of the season, he has potted merely 13 goals (t-98th), 31 less than Ovechkin’s 43 league-leading tallies. You are probably thinking about what to do with Gionta. Should GM Lou Lamoriello include him in trade discussions? Bench him? Move him around the lines? I have considered these options as well.
Zack Parise Waits No Time to Win Game for Devils
Posted February 5th, 2008 by Ethan KwassmanThe Devils needed 39:18 to score their first goal of the game against the Penguins. But, Zach Parise only needed merely 37 seconds in overtime to seal the Devils biggest come-from-behind win this season. New Jersey embarks to Buffalo, carrying two straight victories over the woeful Kings and division rival Penguins. Zach Parise, who has been Mr. Clutch this season, also assisted on the team’s first two

The Devils manufactured
six goals in Saturday night’s 6-3 win over the Kings. Tonight, they need to
continue that rare offensive outburst against a dangerous Sidney Crosby-less
Pittsburgh club. The Penguins have managed to remain near top of Atlantic
despite having six regulars on injured reserve, including their captain and
scoring leader Crosby (high
ankle sprain).
Last Minute Line Change Leads to Success
Posted February 4th, 2008 by Jeremy KenterI was pleasantly surprised by the Devils lineup this past Saturday night. I noticed a major change. Elias, Gionta and Parise skated on the A line. Zubrus, Langenbrunner and Zajac controlled the second offensive unit, while Madden, Brylin and Clarkson paired the checking line. Asham, Rupp and Pelley played sparingly on the Devils fourth pairing.

Devils on Versus, TSN Tonight
Posted February 4th, 2008 by Jeremy KenterThe Devils ARE playing on Versus (HD) and Canada's TSN (HD) tonight at 7 o'clock against the Penguins. I believe this is New Jersey's first national telecast of the season (I could be wrong). I also know that the game will take place at the Prudential Center and that Sutter rightfully

This is a perfect reason for the league to hire bloggers, allow bloggers into the media rooms, locker rooms, etc. People like James
Devils Rebound in Hurry, Easily Handle Kings
Posted February 3rd, 2008 by Jeremy Kenter
The Devils quickly got
back on the winning track with a 6-3 win over the last-place Kings last night.
They produced five second-period goals and 12 skaters contributed points in New
Jersey's first win on the five-game home stand. Even the defensemen helped out,
manufacturing two goals and three assists in front of 15,279 at the Prudential
Center.
Devils at Crossroads with Kings on Horizon
Posted February 2nd, 2008 by Jeremy Kenter
After suffering a 3-1
defeat to the Rangers last night, the Devils are back in business. Tonight,
they face the LA Kings, who are in the middle of an eight-game road trip. That
nearly matches New Jersey's record-tying nine-game road trip which opened the
current season.
Devils Deranged Once Again by Nemesis
Posted February 2nd, 2008 by Jeremy KenterFriday was not a night to remember for the 17,625 fans in attendance. The Devils and their loyal supporters must stay positive after last night’s 3-1 loss to the Rangers, as they host the Kings tonight with little room for error. The Devils have officially lost the season series (0-3-2) to the Rangers. That was the fifth straight loss to the Rangers and 5th in the 6-game home stretch. But, everyone must stay positive.
Devils Broadcast Update: FSNY and WFAN
Posted February 1st, 2008 by Jeremy KenterNew month. Same deal. Devils need to get back on winning track. Tonight’s opponent is perfect start as the Devils host the Rangers at 7 o'clock on FSNY (preview at 6:30) and on WFAN 660 AM. Despite the rainy, shitty day, the game will go on as scheduled like the Giants-Packers -23 degree NFC Championship Game. Let's pray for two Devils wins this weekend and then a Giants upset
Devils Have Crucial Weekend at Rock
Posted February 1st, 2008 by Jeremy KenterAfter two straight losses, the Devils have little time to waste. They host the Rangers tonight and LA Kings tomorrow. The Devils are no strangers to their cross- river rivals who have captured all four meetings thus far. Despite the four-game losing streak to the Rangers (0-6-3 if you include the Islanders), New Jersey remains three points ahead in the Atlantic Division, but two points behind first place Philadelphia. We enter a crucial stretch of hockey, the final two plus months of the 2007-08 regular season.
