Colin White- Return From Eye Injury Blurry
New Jersey Devils defenseman Colin White's return to the ice is blurry, a month after a self-deflected puck hit his right eye, according to New York Post’s Mark Everson. White has not returned to skating since the unfortunate incident took place on Sept. 19. Thanksgiving is probably out of the question for his return, but Christmas is a more realistic return for White.
White is one of the toughest Devils defensemen, resembling Scott Stevens' stay-at-home style. The Devils defense has definitely not been the same without him or Brian Rafalski in the lineup. Rafalski was a free agent who signed with the Detroit Red Wings after spending his entire career with the Devils organization. White is also home grown and remains with the Devils for several more years before his contract expires.
While White continues to play the wait and see game, hoping that the vision in his right eye heals quicker than expected, head coach Brent Sutter continues to mix and match lines and defensemen hoping to find the ideal pairings.
The Devils continue to struggle defensively and are rumored to be interested in signing Danny Markov, one of the top free agent defensemen still unsigned, also according to Mark Everson from the NY Post.
