Standings: GP W L OTL PTS

Phil. Flyers 12 8 4 0 16

NY Islanders 11 7 4 0 14

NY Rangers 13 6 6 1 13

Pitts Pens 13 6 6 1 13

NJ Devils 13 5 6 2 12

Flyers- rebounded since last season's miserable 56-point year, which included firing the head coach and general manager... Key offseason signing of Daniel Briere who currently leads team with 5G 10A

Islanders- defying expectations with seven wins already... behind play of two offseason free agent signings- Mike Comrie (5G 8A) and Bill Guerin (5G 6A)

Rangers- Henrik Lundqvist has literally shut the door on goal scorers, having only allowed 21 goals in team's first 11 games... en route to a 1.61GAA, .939SV% including three shutouts...

Penguins- Offensively, Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin have continued to rip apart goaltenders... Crosby 7G 13A and Malkin 5G 13A lead the team and their assists are good for second place in the league (Crosby's 20 points place him fifth in the league in that category)

Devils- how about a nine-game three-week season-opening road trip? They went 3-5-1 during this adventure, but are slowly regaining their confidence, earning five points in their last three games (2-0-1)... time to switch into first gear as their next eight opponents all represent the Atlantic Division... no looking back at October for rookie coach Brent Sutter and his Jersey Boys

There you have a brief recap of October... Please join us at the end of November, when hopefully Jamie Langenbrunner returns from offseason surgery and the Devils have slowly climbed the standings... and goaltender Martin Brodeur returns to hall of fame form
