Barry Bonds Indicted, A-Rod Still a Yank, College Prank Gone Bad, College Football- Replace No. 2 with 13

Who broke this story? Well, that's not really important... Former San Francisco Giants outfielder Barry Bonds was indicted Thursday for perjury and obstruction of justice. He faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted on all charges.

"Bonds, 43, who supplanted Hank Aaron as baseball's career home run leader Aug. 7, was charged with lying to a federal grand jury in December 2003 when he denied having knowingly used steroids, suggesting his personal trainer, Greg Anderson, had given him "flaxseed oil" and a balm to help him recover from injury." (Paul Sullivan, Chicago Tribune)

Alex Rodriguez remained a Yankee after all this hoopla, media attention... he is being paid to hit home runs as I predicted, not to perform past the regular season... for the ripe price of 10 years $275 million plus incentives...

"That number could jump to at least $300 million if A-Rod breaks the all-time home run record." (Courtesy of Fanhouse).

Gabriel Keith went too far with his noose prank... he's an assistant editor of a college newspaper... that does not make him oblivious to this side of the country's racism lectures with Don Imus, or Seinfeld's Kramer for that matter...

“An attempt at motivating writers to hit their deadlines created an uproar at a Minneapolis college.  Gabriel Keith, an assistant editor at the City College Times at Minneapolis Community & Technical College, used a drawstring from a hooded sweatshirt to make a noose, from which he hung a message about making deadlines in late October."  (editorandpublisher.com via UWIRE)

"The tactic did not go over well in a newsroom that included several black students. Keith took the noose down five minutes later, but the ensuing hubbub led to his firing from the paper and a dispute between the editor-in-chief and the adviser. "

Keith and Imus should have a sitdown, maybe with Tony Sopranos… settle this matter in-house if you catch my drift…

Another No. 2 D-I college football program lost tonight (Oregon Ducks), bringing this season's total to five... I know that 13 is that number generally omitted in elevators and others fear 13 for various reasons…Triskaidekaphobia… maybe they should have feared No. 2 instead… at least college football since Oct. 6.

“The curse of No. 2 claimed another victim.Second-ranked Oregon lost Heisman Trophy candidate Dennis Dixon to a knee injury and never recovered in a 34-24 upset by Arizona on Thursday night.” (ESPN’s Recap via AP)… at least there is less controversy over the Heisman this year (Tim Tebow, U. Florida QB) unless he somehow gets injured or the writers are as corrupt as the members of the 1998 International Olympic Committee

And why would I give credit Brian Grummell of Fanhouse for his wild prediction of Arizona upsetting Oregon? Because he was one of the few people, excluding Arizona fans, who gave the Wildcats a chance...
