Devils Daily: Rachunek, Parise -- Successful Hockey Players

Jeremy Kenter's picture

New Jersey Devils defenseman Karel Rachunek is arguably one of the best at his position.  I'm not kidding.  In a recent study by Behind the Net on blueliners who improve even strength scoring the most…Rachunek was rated No. 1, ahead of Nicklas Lidstrom and Niclas Havelid… I had to reread Mirtle’s post to ensure that I was seeing correctly… but, yes... Rachunek is having a great season...

Rachunek is actually tied for fifth place in the league’s plus/minus category with a +10 and finally scored his first goal of the season in the Devils' 6-2 win over the Flyers, after contributing three assists in the first four games in November.

The Devils can also hold onto “Captain” Zach Parise, who is ranked sixth among Mirtle’s forwards.

“If I take the above three metrics and weight them equally, it comes up with a pretty solid list of some of the most important offence-first players in the league:” (Mirtle)

2 EVGENI MALKIN PIT

Parise leads the team in a bunch of statistical categories including even strength and power play goals scored, assists, and points…he’s definitely a keeper for a long period of time…
