New Jersey Devils 4 Starting Lines for the 2007-2008 Season

I am going to start listing my top three lines for the New Jersey Devils entering this season. Patrik Elias- command the top line for a change, everyone needs you to return to form (81 in 82 games- 2003-2004, or 96 points in 2000-2001 campaign). We cannot sit by idly while you rack up 69 total points on offense. No excuses this season, earn your fucking stripes. NHLNumbers reveals Elias’ expensive and lengthy contract in New Jersey. Elias, Lou also signed Danius Zubrus to replace Scott Gomez and to center the first line with you and Brian Gionta on the wings. He might not have signed the best center in hockey, but Zubrus is a veteran and very knowledgeable of the game. Elias, no more Gomez. Get him out of your head. Also realize that Brent Sutter is your new head coach. Follow his rules, he is a winner. Sutter led his Canadian team to a 7-0-1 record with his junior hockey Super Series team over Russia according to the Canadian Press. Great story for worried Devils fans. Danius Zubrus- you just received a 6-year $20.4 million dollar deal, live up to it please. If you work better with Langenbrunner and Zajac, or Parise in the preseason training, I am positive that head coach Brent Sutter will rotate the lines accordingly. You are a veteran of the game, having played in over 650 games since 1996, and you will either take the faceoffs or mind a wing. Either way, the Devils need at least 60 points out of you this season. As high as that amount seems, and because you have reached that mark only once (last year with the Capitals and Sabres), you will need to play like a first liner. Now that Gomez is a Ranger, the Devils lack someone to man their power play. Your 58 career power play assists indicate to me that you can handle the job. You fucking better- new arena this year, new coach, experts are expecting shitty play, prove them wrong. Brian Gionta- To go from breaking the Devils record for goals in one season with 48 to 25 is just unacceptable. Even if you did not play all 82 games. I am not expecting you to score 48 goals again, hence the sports description “Career Year.” At the same time, you are estimated to score at least 20 goals this season, barring no injuries. You are also earning a nice sum of money this year- produce the numbers to indicate your value. There you have it- Elias, Gionta, and Zubrus- no more EGG lines, no more amazing (Arnott-Elias-Sykora from 2000-2001 unstoppable fucking amazing lines. This is the #1 line of the New Jersey Devils. Langenbrunner- Zajac-Parise will commandeer the second line…
