Continental Airlines Arena- Down to Three Bids
I do not know the companies that would pay any amount of money to have their name on a building that will be rendered useless after this season. The Bergen Record: "Izod, Southpole, and Rocawear -- clothing lines that compete for sales among young shoppers -- are also competing to replace Continental Airlines as the new naming-rights partner for the 26-year-old arena. According to three sources familiar with the bidding, Fort Lee-based Southpole; the Jay-Z-owned Rocawear; and Phillips-Van Heusen-owned Izod each formally expressed their desire for the naming rights to the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority by the Monday afternoon deadline." CAA is a dying entity, a building that will be obliterated in a few years or just left hapless. A place lacking professional teams that might have stayed if mass transit was constructed earlier. Oh yeah, Jay-Z, you are a wise businessman. Do not waste your money or time on the former CAA. Please take Beyonce to Newark, where you can show her a new technologically advanced Prudential Center. Just leave the Meadowlands. The Associated Press: "The New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, which owns the building, will evaluate the proposals and could make a decision by its Oct. 4 meeting, said the authority's chief executive officer, George Zoffinger. He declined to give details about the proposals, neither dollar amounts nor other terms. The bidders will make presentations to the authority's board next week." I know that I have been really blogging about this topic, kind of like beating a dead horse, but I really want Zoffinger to suffer. I want him to experience what fans like myself dealt with for the past twenty something years.
