REDBLACKHOCKEY has a nice piece on the Islanders/Rangers fight, specifically Chris Simon, suspended last season for stick butting Ryan Hollweg.

Simon should not have played in the game Monday night due to his suspension that carried over from last season. Commissioner Gary Bettman does know his own NHL rulebook apparently. In every other sport, if a player is suspended, he is forbidden from playing or even being with his team.

Monday night's event should not have taken place. This just adds to the list of atrocious league management and time for a change, which will not happen unfortunately. Until the league owners take their heads out of their asses and fire Bettman.
