Martin Brodeur

Ready for another huge season.

Fox Sports Hockey maestro Lyle Richardson aka Spector thinks that Brodeur is capable of another 40-win season.

"5. Can Martin Brodeur and Roberto Luongo match or exceed last season's win totals?

Brodeur and Luongo both had seasons for the ages, with Brodeur setting a new single- season wins record for goaltenders with 48, while Luongo finished one behind with 47.

It's a stretch to expect both goalies to repeat those numbers again. Brodeur appeared burned out by the second round of last spring's playoffs, which was enough for Devils management to bring in an experienced backup in Kevin Weekes to lighten Brodeur's workload somewhat.

Luongo has entered his prime as an elite goaltender and he'll see a heavy workload again this season, but if Canucks coach Alain Vignealt can lighten his work rate even slightly he will, rather than risk burning out Luongo by playoff time.

Don't be surprised, however, if these two should reach the 40-win plateau again."

Spector, it did not take much to figure that out. Brodeur is a lock for 40 wins. He might have some trouble getting there with new lineup. But, he will get there nonetheless.
