Quick In-game Update... Price Starts in Goal for Habs, Devils Lead After One

I am not sure why Cristobal Huet is not in net tonight.  Nevertheless, 20-year-old Canadian native Casey Price is starting 10th career game.  He is 6-2-1 thus far in his rookie season with a 2.71 GAA and .916SV%, both decent numbers for this youthful goaltender.

"A big challenge for starter Carey Price who has yet to have the misfortune of starting for the Canadiens in NJ against Martin Brodeur." (Habsblog)

New Jersey Devils jumped in front on Zach Parise's breakaway goal after Habs blueliner Patrice Brisebois lost control of the puck.  Parise outran Brisebois, carried the puck down the left side and beat Casey Price five-hole with his backhand.

After the period ended, Stan "The Maven" Fischler interviewed Parise, who said that he was going five-hole (in between the legs) the whole time he was racing down the ice.

The Devils need to stay out of the penalty box if they plan on holding the lead.  They managed to stopp all three Habs man advantages but failed to score on their only power play opportunity.

The Canadiens held a 16-9 shot lead after the first period, in large part due to their three power plays.

More on the Devils later...
